2004 Newmar DS Air Pressure Issue

In 2012, we traded for the coach described in our sig. One thing that I've noticed is that the front would lose air within 24hrs after parking while the rear would stay up for 7-10 days. This past winter, when I went to storage to take the coach out for a 45-60 minutes drive, the front would not initially air up after several minutes but eventually did. I used the coach several times after with no problem until about (1) month ago, when I came back from having the front end realigned, I stopped and was idling in the storage lot when I observed that the front had dropped. Last week, I took it to the Cummins-Onan shop that I use, which is also an authorized Spartan Chassis service center, where they found the rear ride-height valve to be leaking and rubber grommets in the linkage to be bad. After replacement of those items, the system performed with no problems for 24-48hrs. We went camping this past weekend and it performed without any problem until I pulled in to the check-in area for water. As I got out of the coach and started to walk around it, the DW stated that the coach has just lost air all around and settled about 6-10 inches. I shut the coach off for several minutes, started it up and it aired back up. Went to the campsite and had no other issues when we started up and left Sunday. I am going to check the unit here shortly in storage and see if air has been lost since parking yesterday. I plan on calling Spartan and HWH for their input but was wondering if any of the forum members might have ideas on what could causing this.

  • PS.. they finally found the sticking valve by tapping on it when it was trying to level. Very high tech diagnosis tool the hammer! LOL
  • We had problems with the ride height valves on our 2004 Country Coach Allure. We kept getting intermittent warning lights saying it wasn't at ride height. We took it to HWH in Moscow IA and it took them 4 days to find it. It was a valve that was sticking. We had them replace all 5 valves. Recently we had the back left side drop. We took it to Alliance Coach in Wildwood Florida and they found the dump valve to be defective. HWH is snowed under and won't call back right away. Their tech lines are very busy this time of year. It may take 2 weeks. Good news was while we were there they rebuilt the control box and updated the software which made it level much faster.
