might have a wire that is worn through and shorting somewhere. Pain in the butt to find sometimes, but you can test that theory by just using a jumper wire to temporarily take the wire you are wondering about out of the picture. if it works fine you can either inspect the wire and fix the shorted area, or just run a new wire.
