$25 Water Pump

Saw this in the All Electronics sale flyer today:

12v On Demand Pump

Good to have as a spare or use to transfer water from portable jugs when dry camping.
  • Standard pumps do not draw ant current unless running- the pressure switch is just that- a switch, and when open, no current can flow. The electronic variable speed pumps might draw current, not sure.
The pump linked to looks like a nice, small pump, but it will be single fixture only. More akin to a windshield washer pump.
  • The specs say "no load" current
That means powered on , open ended, free spinning motor, not pumping any water, not connected to water system, just a motor test

    NOT..no demand
  • Evidently they do draw current when not running. Had my TT in shop for warranty work on a door. I forgot to turn the pump switch off after winterizing it the same day I took it in to the shop. I did disconnect the battery through a disconnect switch. Anyway I went back a week later and my battery was dead (Battery 1 month old...New camper). They had turned the battery on to lower the jack for moving it and did not turn it off. End result: Dead battery. The shop manager apologized for them leaving the battery switch on and told me that the water pump has a pretty good parasitic draw.
  • Wondering why there needs to be a no demand current of a third of an amp? I thought these things drew nothing when not running..
  • Just double check that it is the same as the one you have.

I had one replaced by mobile repair while on the road only to find out down the road it was the cheaper one and did not perform the same as the one factory installed.

GPM being one of the big differences, and the pumps look identical.
  • Thanks for posing. I've never seen hat site, interesting. :)

I paid more than that for a used one to have as a spare although it has the correct hose fittings to make it easy to hook up. $25 plus shipping of ?? is hard to beat.
