26" LCD TV with DVD Player Power Draw?

I have searched the web and owners manual but cannot find out how many amps my LG 26" lcd tv w/dvd uses with the dvd player on. I plan on buying an inverter but not if the tv/dvd uses to many amps. which I run off the generator now. I figured someone on here with a similar size unit would be able to tell me the amp draw while the dvd is on.

Thanks!

In any case it's such a small draw it wouldn't matter to any inverter you buy. But I'd count on a pure sine for that kind of application.
  • I have a 24" JVC LED combo and it draws less than 50w when playing a DVD. And LCD could be a hair more, but not much. Surely not enough to worry much about unless you're dry camping.

Most manuals will state their power rating, but typically max. That may also help you if you don't already own a specific device.
  • Yes, it varies with "picture mode" where brightest uses the most amps draw with an inverter. An LCD uses a bit more than an LCD with LED.

You divide by 10 for inverter, so 80w at that picture mode for a TV would draw 8 amps from the battery via an inverter. A DVD might be 20w so add another 2 amps for that.

It can be less, but think of a DVD movie as costing 10amps for an hour, so a two hour movie costs 20AH approx. Goes to 20amps instead of 10a when the furnace comes on and you have a light on. Now you run the big inverter for a few minutes to make popcorn at 150amps and now we are getting serious! :)
  • I'll bet if you examined the unit itself, you'd find the wattage for it. All my TV's list them.
  • You can by a device called kill-a-watt and it will show you exactly how much your tv uses.
