I'm sure the DPDT Switch would --Replace-- the ATS, but hooked up "next" to it, I think how I can see how running the generator could make for live contacts on the Shore Tie Cable since the ATS default to Shore Power.

Don, I would do what you suggest, just go back to a plug/receptacle arrangement, but the locations of the wiring terminations are such that it'd be a major project.
