I had a old 80 southwind that would vapor lock and get hot. I decided to replace the thermostat . On the valve cover was stamped no thermostat will cause overheating. I found no thermostat in the engine. I seam to remember that they had a high flow thermostat for rv's , but I might be wrong about thar.
