50 Amp Power Cord Sgtorage

The power cord on my 2015 Forest River Sierra 5th wheel is very long and heavy to muscle around. Any suggestions on storing the power cord for relatively easy access upon arriving at camp site?

  • Assuming it disconnects at both ends, has anyone ever considered making a second, shorter cable? A length that would suffice most of the time and then when you need something longer, get out the original cable.
  • Getting it out is easy. Winding it up especially when it's cold, is the hard part.
  • Coil it in a figure 8 and you won't have the typical twisting problem.

Also if you have the typical plastic coated cord then a new rubber cord will be more flexible and the old cord will be a spare or extension.
  • For $600 I can do without the Cablemaster, it is just not that hard to coil up an put away.
  • A good pair of work gloves. Lay cord out flat, then coil it into the storage bay. At hookup, just grab the end and pull.
  • I carry a 5 gallon bucket(home Depot bright orange)
My 50A anaconda cord gets coiled up in bucket and then placed in back of truck bed between hitch and tailgate.
  • My coach has the Cablemaster RLC unit which powers the cord in AND out, making both 'chores' less hectic....Dennis
