Not correct. What you are explaining is correct for 30 amp service in a RV, but 50 amp service is 220 volts.

I'm assuming that you are asking what's the problem with this. It can mean that you can easily get a shock from it. With the power wire (red) and the neutral wire (white) crossed, electrically things will work will fine, but that's where the problem lies. Nearly every electrical device has a polarized plug and there is a reason for this. It is to ensure that the internal wiring does not energize any part of the exposed parts of the device. Case in point; my son was living in an older apartment and every time he used his electric broom, he'd get a shock when he used two particular receptacles. His electric broom had a polarized plug on it, so it wasn't the plug. We found that the two of the receptacles had the power and neutral wires reversed at the receptacle. We corrected the wiring and he had no more shock problems.

My brother hired a bonded electrician that said he could hook up a 30 amp for him. Unfortunately the electrician did not know that the 30 amp was supposed to be 110 VAC. The electrician had to pay to replace all the damaged equipment.

Sorry about that, what I meant was that the Red was connected where the White should've been, and vice versa.

He will get 240 volts through one half of his rig, and 120 volts (reversed polarity) through the other half. This is assuming he has a 50 amp rig.
