It it possible for a 55 amp converter (with a 14.4 volt quick-charge mode) to take a new Interstate SRM-24 series Marine/RV battery that's discharged to 11.90 volts and charge it to 90% (12.58 volts) in 3-4 hours?
I realize discharging below 50% is not recommended, but I'm trying to get a feel for a worst-case scenario.
Thanks!
First, for a Marine/deep cycle the recommended minimum state of charge is far higher than for a true Deep Cycle (For those it's 50%)
Second Your group 24 battery holds about 75 amp hours
So from 50 percent to 90 percent with a 30 amp charger should take no more than 2 hours.
With a 55 amp charger you are charging too fast and damaging the battery.
