5500 generator plug wires

Question

I have a 5500 Onan generator that the #2 spark plug is not firing.  I've tried different spark plugs, so I need to get the wire off to check it. Has anyone have information on getting the wire off?  Does the generator need to be dropped in order to get the spark plug wire off?   Thanks guys

The wire will be attached to the coil, you will need to remove the front shroud to access it which likely means taking the unit out.

Which 5500 do you have  need the model and serial number. On the older ones Corrosion gets down in the coil where the spark plug wire connects just needs cleaned out . Just have to see if you can reach it follow the plug wire.

Ok, 5500 Generator  Model HGJAB-1038A                  Serial #Dolo223845Can't see or feel the end of the spark plug wire due to the inclosure.  Thanks

You’ve got to pull it and drop the bottom to get to the coil.  Plug wire is molded to the coil.
