The purpose of having 2 regulators is safety. You only see this when the Tanks are separated. The Tank that does NOT have the main 2 stage LP regulator by it has a RED regulator. The purpose is to drop the HI Pressure at the tank to a lower pressure that feeds that LP line that goes to the other tank. That way, IF there is a leak or failure in that line going to the other tank, it is a low pressure leak and not a hi pressure leak. The pressure if I remember correctly is 10 psig going to the regular 2 stage regulator. Doug
