Propane system trouble

If a tank has been disconnected without a cap, often a spider or other insect can get in the valve opening or hose and clog it.

Check the rubber line from the tanks to where is connects to the trailer. The way mine is routed, it can be pinched by the landing gear latch if the front of the trailer is lowered too far. Someday, I might remember to re-route the line.

I've tried turning off the tank and opening very slowly and that may have helped some but still a lot of orange.

I'll try replacing the pigtail but I'll wait until we're home with access to all my tools.

We can still make coffee so we're OK. We can live without hot water and it's been so hot here (I wonder of the air temp had anything to do with this?) that we don't need the furnace.

The weather here in So. Cal. has been very hot. It's Santa Ana conditions (windy, hot, dry) so humidity has been very low. Record heat for us, even on the coast. We're camping next to the ocean and temps were in the 90s even there. Should be cooling down starting today.

At our house, if the fragrance diffuser is running the flame on the propane stove, and/or the propane fireplace will be orange. Either high humidity or a chemical in the fragrances used.

Blue Flame = Complete Combustion (flame temp ~1900*F +)

Yellow Flame = INCOMPLETE combustion (flame temp ~1000*F)

Orange Flame.......usually due to HIGH Humidity OR dusty conditions
Typically clear up by itself

Turn off the tanks! Now turn them on very slowly!
