6 volt AGM

Usually when I post a craigslist ad for batteries, it is because of the deal. This time it's because after finding out the telecom batteries didn't exactly fit what we expected from AGM's, these batteries have two buzzwords that we normally think of in opposite terms. 6 volts-low and slow. AGM- fast.

This guy started out with the new and used telecom AGM and starting 8-Ds, then slim batteries and now these 6 and 8 volt AGM's.

Leoch DTA245 245 Ah

Spec sheet

I've talked to him about some of the batteries. The "new" Leoch 8-D deep cycles turned out to be 2 years out but unused. Mex pointed out that they were starting batteries and Leoch confirmed but you couldn't tell him that. This post is more of the battery type than about the ad itself.

  • Hi Don.

The link is for the 6 volt AGM. The seller had 8-Ds at one time, those were two years old so I have no ideal what new means now if anyone was interested.

I was thinking that type of battery would be unique.
  • Unless they were charged every six months I'd not go near them with a ten foot pole.

They don't look like 8d to me. But maybe I don't know what an 8d looks like?
