64 Thunderbolt, are you there?

PM'ed
  • Someone in Ohio is sitting on an old Sox and Martin's Baccaruda. Neighbor across the street bought it and we ran if for three seasons. he sold it to an investor who shoved it in a barn in Ohio and it still sits, there as far as I know rotting.
    Such sacriledge.
Before you crank that old hemi better pull it apart and check it.
Someone around hee has a 64 Galaxie, white, four speed, with a 427. He is not taking very good care of it. He had the oil changed at Wall Mart when I saw it.
I hoped I would see him again and buy it. But I bet his idea is to drie until it falls apart and sell it for a mint.
  • I was going to city college in auto shop when a fellow student driving a Toyota Corona cut off an instructor in a thunderbird. I couldn't stop fast enough and rear-ended the Thunderbird. Almost no damage to her car but it totaled mine. Only accident I was ever in.

It needed a new motor when I got it. I put a 289 in it with a toploader. The body was immaculate before the accident. Front end parts weren't the same as standard Fairlane so I junked it at a Richmond (Gertrude) wrecking yard. Sold misc parts off it and recouped what I paid. Back when I had it, these cars were considered ugly and nobody wanted them. Things have changed though, and now it's a collector item.

To think of the cars we had back then - friends had a 57 Bel-Air, a 66 Malibu, a 68 GTO, Cameros, Mustangs,. We bought them for just a few dollars and sold for the same. ...now look.

My current project is a 63 Valiant convertible.

I noticed your nickname on another post, then I noticed your fist name.

Did or do you own a Thunderbolt? I thought it funny as we share the same fist name, and I had a thunderbolt in the late 70's early 80's.

Had a LOT of good times in that car!

Glen, you actually had a "real" Thunderbolt????

I have a 64 Fairlane 2dr sdn (T-bolt style) with a 351c/t-10/9in that my Mom purchased new in 63. I thought about doing a clone, but decided that I wanted to keep it close to what she had (260/3sp/8in). My DW and I actually eloped in this car in 65.
