GC thick fiberglass mats make for higher impedance. Surface area makes for higher CCA and higher rated low tier amp hour rate. Sponge plate is the weakest for cycling but yields the highest car rated performance numbers.
Would take an immense thickness of Pb to increase impedance. Would love to have those 52" tall .725" plate WWII submarine batteries (Exide). At surface they boiled the bejeezus out of them shedding plate material like dandruff to fast charge then dive. Depth charging snapped thinner plates.
Had champagne income to purchase 1,650 amp hours of 12 cells. Danged sub batteries were rated 3,100 amp@ 20 hours. Well I er (fool around) all day now. Few worries except for possible no next breath.
Need to get our amiable Panda-petter's, to make GOOD 99 dollar AGM batteries. Fat chance of that ever happening.
