Will using one of the upgraded 70amp Progressive Dynamics charger/converters fry my new 12v LEDs (unregulated version)?
I've seen talk of leaving the old converter in place, deck mounting the new one close to the battery, etc, but don't these interfere with each other?
First: I use a Progressive Dyanmics Intella Power 9180 with Wizard and so far I've only fried el-cheapo dim, blue, I don't like them a Bit LED's and Good Riddence.
I also have a whole lot of warm white (Bit on the yellow side) and good COOL WHITE (nice bright white) LED's that have lasted YEARS that I'm very happy with.. Very happy indeed with.
So to answer your first question: Should not
however see note below
The second: Two converters both on at same time.. Depends a bit on the old one.. Assuming it is a good decent deivce (At least a parallex 7300, not a Magnetek) likely they will play together nicely,, You may or may not get an increase in recharge speed.. In fact the two worst cases are either:
!: you get no increase
2: It increases beyond the battery's ability to eat well (This boils batteries dry).
That said I run two converters: The aforementioned 9180, and a Xantrex Prosine 2.0.. NORMALLY I only run the 9180 but kick on the Prosine's charger when I need a faster charge (It is larger and connected directly to the batteries, not over 50' of wire away).
Or I accidently unplug the 9180 (Hey, it happens) and it's get dressed, go outside and plug it in.... or flip the switch on the panel INSIDE and let the prosine do the job.
