The owners manual refers to the exact controls that are on this fan, so I don't think it was a add-on. I do find it strange that I cannot find this fan in the wiring diagrams. Even optional items are in the diagrams.
My neighbor had the same type problem with a Fantastic Fan, and it turned out to be a rust issue with the auto shutoff. The unit had a spring controlled shutoff switch that turned the fan off when the cover was closed, and it was supposed to pop up to turn it on automatically when the cover was open.
Many years of rain & humidity turned that mechanism to dust so contact would never happen when the cover was open. I simply bypassed that switch so he could control the fan directly with his wall switch. His RV was also a Fleetwood.
