I got the new drive pawl today from King in Montreal, and am back in business. Still have a whole recoil starter on the way from Hong Kong too.
One question from before was about grounding and bonding so stick the three- light tester in it. Did that just now---shows two yellow lights "normal" unlike my Honda inverter-gen which has a floating neutral. One of the yellows was flickering a little if that means anything. (same yellow that indicates open neutral when only that yellow is showing)
So there are still some questions from the OP to answer like, "What is "breaking in?" etc.

I will only be running the Vector portable charger with it, never the rig itself via the shore power cord, if that matters for grounding it or bonding etc. I have tried that much already and it all works to recharge the batteries.
So there are still some questions from the OP to answer like, "What is "breaking in?" etc.
