EDIT--there is more info in this manual, including breaking in period and detail on pull starting tricks. They are hot on Earth grounding too, but I am still dubious. Who really does that?

Also what about the surge protector advisory? Do the Harbor Freight ones say to use one of those? I have one in the 5er but it is no longer portable after a mod I did putting it as part of the shore power cord inside the rig. Is the little gen's 120v output that bad?
I am running it some more with a can of SeaFoam in it to clean it. No idea if that will do any good. I didn't yet soak the muffler/exhaust in mineral spirits (is that what Mr Wizard was recommending?) but I see that is to balance in -out pressure.
I broke the drive pawl using starting spray down the spark plug hole, which really increased the tightness of the pull and the pull rope handle came away in my hand and snapped back and broke the pawl somehow as well.
It starts now after several pulls without using starting spray, but it is hard work and you have to brace the little generator from pulling over while tugging on the rope. Kind of awkward to use your other hand to brace it. My Honda 3000 is so heavy it stays there while you pull the rope--and it starts right away too.
I don't think DW is going to be able to use this when she has the camper and the dogs at an event by herself as happens sometimes. Drat. She needs a push a button and it starts thing.
