You keep referring to a "surge protector" but exactly what is it? - a surge protector or EMS, and what make / model? The reason I ask is Progressive Industries does warn against using any of their EMS units with a Yamaha EF2000iS, claiming that genset's waveform output at times could destroy their EMS. As I recall, the owner's manual for your genset clearly states that voltage could shoot excessively high if it runs out of gas while powering anything so that being the case I'd be awfully cautious using it with your RV and definitely not use it if what you have is a Progressive EMS.
