  • Go to your Ford dealer and hand them your credit card..

Or you could give us a better description so we have something to work with.
  • A historical code should be stored in the computer for an intermittent light. On GMs (maybe others) a steady light usually means the ABS system is also disabled...in my neck of the woods, that can be a big problem in snow covered and icy roads.

My Silverado threw 3 ABS codes a few months ago and I managed to resolve all but one. A code came up for the right front sensor and the clerk at Advance was trying to sell me one but some research showed rust was a common issue causing Silverado speed sensor codes. Cleaning the hub under the sensor saved me from needlessly buying a sensor.

And my comes on once in awhile so I want to find the unit and display the codes so that I can remove the black tape. :S

With the information we have now, a piece of black tape over the dashboard is the only answer we can give.

We need LOTS more information. That is like saying "My car quit running. What part do I need to buy?" Could be anything.
  • Ok, totally different make/model/everything, but maybe worth checking anyway... I had this happen on my truck and it turned out to be a failed rear wheel speed sensor. $10 part and 15 minutes to replace. I'd still do the code reader first, but if that offers no help, just something else to check. Good luck.
  • Take it to Advance Auto or one of the chair stores that loans code readers. Not all code readers will read ABS so make sure you ask for the correct one. Once you get the ABS code, Google the code for instructions on how to diagnose and fix the issue.
