Just came from Vegas 103 deg with no AC problems. At our new location which is also about 103 deg, the ac compressor would cycle and the fan would stay on with the thermostat on auto. Now it trips the breaker. Last night when it was 90 deg I measured the voltage drop and it went from 120 AC off to 107 with AC on. Before I measured the voltage drop it was running very quiet/slow. Today it's only 80 deg and was able to borrow an amp meter at its drawing 15.1 amps. I can't figure out if it's the campsight voltage or my ac. Any help?

Got a portable EMS you can plug into before shore power? That would tell you if it's the park power.

Have you checked the pedestal connection, to see that it is clean, and a snug fit. If it isn't, maybe get the camp service guy to clean it up. If loose fit/worn, it can help to use a stretch strap to hold it. It could be dropping to less than 107 at start up. I would run fridge on propane, and keep other electric use to a minimum, until you get it figured out.If lots of units drawing at new camp, with maybe older electric than previous camp, could be the problem.Jerry

107 is the low side of normal. A voltage booster such as Hughes Autoformer might help. Really need to check the specs on the 15.1 amps as it may indicate your compressor is failing.

A number of years ago the 20 amp breaker for my A/C started tripping randomly usually during the hottest part of the day. Before tackling possible other issues and knowing that circuit breakers can get weak or go bad I decided to replace the breaker. Easy job. And it never tripped again.

A camp manager said that they've never had problems there before but I don't think people normally stay here in the summer I moved to another site and now it's 124 volt air conditioner on or off. Yeah!

When lots of other RV’s are running their air conditioning Hughes Autoformer does the trick.

Check the tightness of the terminal holding the wire. Possibly just loose, if it's hot to touch when it trips probable cause.

Trouble with the a device like the autoformer mentioned is that to increase the voltage, the amperage also increase and you're more susceptible to tripping the pedestal breaker - there's no free lunch and you won't be able to draw more than 24 amps (80%) through a 30 amp breaker for any length of time with it tripping.

Had that problem (And still do) for a couple summers now... I put a clamp on and watched the amps.. Started out right where they shoudl be (13.5) then suddenly started climbing 14, 15 16 17 18 19 CLICK zero.

Cleaned the condenser coils and tried again

13.5 13.5 13.5 Well you get the idea

NOW that is not the ONLY possible cause.. but it's the only one you can fix for $0.00.
