fixed it. Slid a bamboo skewer under the bolt and grabbed it on the other side with some fine-edged tweezers and screwed it back up by turning it with those. Then carefully screwed the rubber spacer back onto the bolt. Got a tight fit. Screwed the foot of the fan motor onto the rubber foot. Working great again.
Yay me. Girl power.
Thanks for the help.
Glad you were able to 'fix'
But I am concerned with this statement in your first post of this thread....
If so, what...the main bolts that secure it to the roof? I got it screwed in so tight when I first installed it. Waited a bit for it to adjust, then tightened it some more. Repeated this until it wouldn't turn anymore
IF you are describing the 4 main bolts and you have cranked them down tight then tight again and then tight once more until they wouldn't turn anymore...........
YOU have crushed the foam roof gasket, possibly warped the roof and/or A/C Unit pan and set yourself up for water leaks into RV or rv roof.
That foam gasket is roughly 1" thick and should only be compressed by half. The 4 bolts are to be 'snug' only.
Actual torque for those bolts is measured in lbs/INCH...20 lbs/inch
Regular small bolt (1/4") would be torqued to 20 lbs/FOOT which is basically 'hand tight'
The A/C hold down bolts should be just a little bit more than 'finger tight'
