If you don't have an owner's manual for the trailer, it sounds to me like you need to visit a local trailer service shop and have them explain the electrical systems to you. And maybe test some things while you have it there.
You NEED some way to charge the battery(s) in the trailer.
If you don't have a generator and seldom plug into shore power.....then a charge line to the tow vehicle would help some but not NEARLY enough to keep things going.
By now, the trailer battery might be shot and beyond help.
