A/C service repair shops

I am heading South to California and Arizona soon. Can someone please recommend a reputable A/C service shop for my 1994 Barth Class A basement air conditioner. It is a Dometic Duo Therm model.I have checked RV Service Reviews but am wanting some personal recommendations
Thanks
  • Those old split units are going to be a bear to service- virtually no original parts are available, though many parts can be sourced as generic parts. In addition- replacement is not an easy answer, as few split units are made now- mostly units for boats, like Cruisair.
The norm is to install units on the roof as replacement.

I've dealt with a very reputable repair shop called McBrides in Corona California so it might be worth giving them a call and see what they say. Very nice family-owned outfit.

  • Last month when I bought my 1999 Sea Breeze I went in to have have everything checked out and they told me the RV air is remove and replace the only thing they could or would do is clean the filters and check the temp.

I was always under the understanding that RV Air Conditioners are more or less just remove and replace for repair. I have never seen any test ports to even test refrigerants.

My two A/C units have been working great since 2008.

  • Several RVers have posted that a friend or small town A/C tech has been able to repair and charge the RV A/C unit. But normally it is a remove and replace type of fix since the labor cost to work on old will come close to the cost of a new unit.
