A/C short cycling

What would cause the A/C short cycle? We have 2 and the rear one did this last summer then started working ok. Now it's doing it again. Set therm. on 75. When it reaches 75 it turns off, then within 30 seconds it starts up again. First the fan then in about 2 min. the compressor. I cleaned the filter and the thermostat probe as well as the compartment.

If the cold air is blowing on the thermostat, that can cause short cycling.

That happened to me. Sort of.

Inside the unit, cooled air was blowing on the temp sensor that read the inlet air temp. A little duct tape sealed the gaps and no more problem.

    Thanks for the tip.

Where is this temp sensor located and what does it look like? Will I need to remove the shroud to get to it or is visible from inside the coach?

    Thank you very much!

    I'd look at the thermostat.

  • Don't know if this is your problem but there is usually a freeze sensor that clamps to the evaporator coil. This can cause the compressor to cycle if it malfunctions. Normally, though, it will not effect the fan running.
