If it starts and won't trip the breaker, then it will run. Try it.
The fact that your trailer circuit is 30A is about same relevant as your truck being able to pull the trailer when there is no trailer :)... It "can" draw 30A, doesn't mean it "has to". Turn everything else off though. Run fridge on propane if you have to run it.
You might need autoformer if voltage won't stay above 110V.
Measuring amps is not mandatory. If it will start, it will run. The easiest way to measure current is with clamp-on meter. Regular multimeter more difficult (and more dangerous), and they often don't have enough capacity to measure high amps. But you don't really need to measure them if everything works.
