Hi all,
It is generally thought that acceptance rate for a flooded deep cycle battery is about 12.5 amps per 100 amp-hours of capacity once the bank is at 85% state of charge.
I know that acceptance rate for AGM's doesn't taper by 85%.
Does anyone know at what percentage state of charge that AGM's would taper to 12.5 amps?
Thanks in advance.
Some years back, we had a thread on this using bigfootford's info among others'.
It came out that AGMs act the same as Wets in that you reach your high set point voltage and start the absorption stage at a lower SOC when using a higher charging rate (charging amps/bank AH) for any one level of absorption voltage.
The AGM graphs were similar to the Wets but you must allow something for the higher voltage of an AGM. It was not very exact but the pattern was clear.
So the answer to the question on when tapering starts with an AGM depends on the charging rate, same as with Wets.
