"I'm not worried about exceeding the charging rate. I'm just trying to work out where charging starts to taper, for that is the most efficient place to stop charging"
Not in general. Very scenario dependent when to stop the recharge. You do need to keep going until you have enough to last until the next recharge, whatever the SOC by then.
Tapering has nothing to do with it. With my 4-6s and 100 amp charger doing 50-90s, I get to Vabs 14.8 at about 72% SOC. If I use more amps (I can do 155 if desired) it hits Vabs and starts to taper sooner, in the 60s for SOC.
Mex likes to use high enough amps so that he gets to Vabs right off and amps taper from the start. How can that be the place to stop?
The info needed here is an amps "marker" for that battery at that Vabs at that initial charging rate, to get to the SOC that will be enough till the next recharge. Nobody else can provide that info.
Only way to find out is run a trial. Pull one batt and test for that while running the rig on the rest. Done! :)
