Shoot for that finishing amperage goal at 14.4 volts. Once that is reached, the battery voltage can be defeated to float. Do whatever it takes to gain 14.4 volts while observing the 20% rule.
No quibbling about the 20%! Sea lawyers will argue 20% is not possible at >80% state of charge. They are correct but utterly blind to the fact that the 20% rule is a formula.
When an AGM is discharged and we are assssssssssuming a level of discharge leaving the battery at <70% SOC THE INITIAL CHARGE RATE MUST BE TWENTY PERCENT OF AMPERE HOUR CAPACITY OR HIGHER.
The sea lawyer cuts in: "But but but whadda bout 19%? That's supposed to damage the battery?" It's this kind of nonsense that clouds valid information and common sense.
