We buy insurance specifically to pay for our phuk ups. That's why we buy insurance. OP phuked up, so, his insurance is paying for it. That's fine. When I first bought my RV I tried driving it into my back yard through my gate that would barely fit. Ground was soft and I didn't want to get stuck so I just "went for it". Ripped the awning off and smashed out the cabin door window. My phuk up, but I had my insurance pay for it. That's why I have insurance - to save me from my and other people's phuk ups.
Also I did something like OP did. My Dad and I were wiring an RV receptacle into my garage for use with the RV in the driveway. My DAD, a "handyman", put two hots to the receptacle, also giving me 240V. We plugged in and while it did no immediate damage I believe this may be what caused a later failure of the control board in the water heater and the refrigerator.
Anyway, we all phuk up from time to time.
Thank you. Sh*t happens... why be rude on an online forum when I'm just asking for advice...
