You have a point... the cheapie I have goes to 14.6, and that's it. However, the task I bought mine for was solely to have a cast-off battery and old PV panel able to power some USB LED lights on a shed in a remote area of a property.
This is a good subject. Once I change rigs, I'm going to be doing something similar with a setup of fixed panels, then a few PV panels on a rig going to a separate charge controller. This way, during the cooler part of the year, I can run the furnace without needing to fire up a generator.
