Can't help with the sending question, but hope you don't mind if I ask one of my own:
How do the gauges you're talking about work? Are they float-type? I ask because I thought that the only way to measure propane was by weight but was recently told that floats like those in gas tanks can be used, too.
I did look at the tank you named but didn't see any info per the gauges there...
