Adding brakes to trailer ---help please

I have a 2004 Aliner trailer that came without brakes. I purchased 10" brakes for it and began the install yesterday. All directions say the magnet should be in the 6:00 position to work properly. These, because of the configuration of the mounting flange are at about 5:00. Is this a problem or will the brakes work OK like that? Interested to know what the experience is of those of you who have added brakes to a brake-less trailer. Thanks for sharing your expertise in advance.

  • I would think that you should be fine. I believe because there are probably 4 holes on the flange, it would be possible to put magnet in 3,12,9 position. Just make sure that the 'C' arm faces forward to front of trailer.
