The only thing I can agree with here would be the third of the cost statement. The factory controllers are like comparing a 1950's truck to a 2016 truck. The Prodigy was a good unit but they are going the way of the Dodo Bird!

OP buy the factory unit off line (e-bay) install it yourself (half hour job tops) and have the dealer flash the sales code into the truck as part of the deal! Than keep the old unit for three years and sell it on e-bay for whatever they are going for.

Yes, it does. It has a light and heavy electric, and light and heavy electric/hydraulic, setting. Selection is made via Uconnect (touchscreen on radio) I had it set on heavy electric.

I dislike dealers as well in most cases. When they pull old tactics like hiding your keys that's very infuriating. So I simply don't give them any keys...... We have one dealer in my town that don't play those games and they have got my business twice. Sounds like the 3500 will suit your needs as long as the wife's on board....

I'm looking at a 2016 Ram 3500 6.4L Tradesman. It's not loaded, but it's got some options. It's got the IBC, but most importantly is that it has 4000 lbs of payload on the yellow sticker.

We have an appointment on Thursday. We'll see what the numbers look like. Wife's on board, but probably only to shut me up. She hates dealerships. Taking 2 vehicles so we can leave if she wants. I despise that tactic where they suddenly can't find the trade-in keys should you choose to think about it. I haven't dealt with this dealership before so I don't know how they are going to be. Reviews seem good. It's not Dick Hannah (who had the bunch of trucks that didn't have the IBC), so that's already a plus. "Believe in Nice" my rear! They wanted to talk numbers before they would let us test drive. That's really crappy.

You don't say what year truck you are looking at? If a 2015, I would install an aftermarket controller. You can get the Prodigy P3 with cable for $140on Amazon. As others have mentioned, check out some of the Ram forums on issues some have had with the 2015 and IBC issues.
