The hookup that smkettner is describing above is different than what I was trying to explain, but is also a balanced hookup done another way.
IMHO, I "think" that what I was explaining may have been a bit simpler. I like your 2nd diagram where you added the numbers!
Hookup everything as you had it originally diagramed, EXCEPT ... hook 10 to 2 (instead of 10 to 5 that you showed at first).
What a balanced hookup basically does is make sure all batteries age at the same rate - so they all wear out equally together. :)
In the original diagram I showed a cable from 2 hooked up to 5, with another short cable to 10....... so isn't that the same as you have outlined (10 to 2)?
