Adding More Solar Panels

my Xantrex C40,,holds bulk ? charge rate for 1 hour once the batteries get to that point,,currently set at 14.8v
then drops to float set at 13.8v, it will not go back to higher voltage unless i disconnect the panels from the controller ( simulate sunset sun rise )
when i start the generator for supper and the wfco comes on line, the Xantrex stops charging completely, then returns to float when i turn off the genny
undecided which extra controller to buy and which way to set it up
the Xantrex will handle all the panels, new and old, as i will not be exceeding its ratings, but sharing the load appeals to me, and i might still get some charge when the genny is running, instead of a total cut off
most days i can use all the power generated from dusk to dawn and need more
thats why i'm swapping out some panels
i could maybe try 13.8v if the new extra watts supply enough gain, i might reach
tip over (aka near charge) earlier in the day and then go the rest of the way on the old panels on the Xantrex
i can always change the setting
