Two controllers, one bank. Both controllers connected to bank and on the array side with Ys in the array lines. Each controller has a switch on one of its input wires between the Y and the controller array terminal.
One controller is set to 14.8 and the other to 13.8.
While camping, the 13.8 controller is left switched off, and the 14.8 one is left on.
You have a day away from the rig, so before you leave you use the switches and turn off the 14.8 controller, and turn on the 13.8 one.
i think that only works if either controller can handle the full array
none of these 30 amp controllers are rated for 700w 40+ amps
running both at the same time seems to be my best option,
that or just run the C40 and keep a very close eye on things
so far with the existing panels i have not exceeded 25 amps on a 40 amp controller, the theoretical increase of the new panels will be 17.5 amps but i'm removing 9.36 amps theoretical from the system
so the new panels will have to be exceptional performers to push the output over the 40 amps output , which the controller will limit IF the panels output exceed 40a into the controller
i think i'll wait on another controller until after is see what happens with the new install, i can always take a panel offline for a few days , IF i need to add another controller
thanks for the barn storming brain flash
