unbob, me don't understand why you cannot give your batteries a "conditioning charge" just because you are on a beach in BCS.
BYPASS the charge controller with the hotel loads disconnected and allow voltage to rise to 15.5 volts. If you can't do it all in one day, do it over a course of three or four days. If your daily consumption nearly equals your generation, charge the batteries with a generator and charger or the vehicle alternator first, then disconnect the loads and let the solar amperage go to work. I do it and have done it tens of dozens of times with VRB nd you can see improvements right away if the positive plates have become occluded. I am headed to Mulegé the first part of February so if you're anywhere near there a piping hot cup of coffee is enough to set me to work :)
