Good price. The big question is the efficiency compared to running an inverter and plugging in a wall brick into AC. One obvious problem with this converter - you can only run one DC device at a time. I hate wall bricks - they usually provide poor quality DC, but with wall bricks you can run many DC devices at a time - laptop, phone charger, rechargeable drill or vacuum, and plug each one where it's more convenient as AC receptacles are plentiful.

I am thinking more along the lines of testing LED's..........................and..................................Setting the voltage at 16.0 and current limit at 5.0 amperesDoes this ring any bells?

Since then I added a voltage regulator pre-dimmer that's dialed up to the max rated current for the LED''s when the dimmer is on full bright.

I have similar to run my model train at Christmas ;)
Sure regulates speed better when the voltage is perfectly regulated.
Amps and power increase up hills and drop when descending for a more constant speed than even my fancy controller that cost double.

No intention to use it to equalize a battery.

you think that's an up converting switcher or just a wide range regulator? I have one advertised like that, but it's output was always ~.5v below the input, which was OK for the LED project at the time.

Now ... if only that little $59.95 beauty could deliver up to 60 or so amps right along with all of it's precise digital control of everything ... then the RV techies out there could really and endlessly tweak (unfortunately - manually) the charging profiles of their RV batteries. :C
