Next idea is to support the bar from inside the frame. As the slide goes out the ram wants to move up and down as well as side to side. If this setup were fastened in it would fight the side to side motion. I'm thinking that the support should be widened at the bottom in order to allow the side to side motion.
One issue is that if I fasten the support to the frame and allow the ram to move side to side the rubber piece that is on the end of the ram will probably tear or wear quickly.

I guess I could fasten the support block to the ram with some "L" brackets and hose clamps.
Hopefully the PVC strip(s) on the bottom of the plywood would aid the support in moving along the frame.
