He could watch when charging. Especially since in Li batteries it's a (relatively) fast process. 70AH can be shoved into 100AH LiFe in under an hour, subject to adequate current source and a good charger, and he mentioned something about taking it to his friend's home for charging. Only I haven't seen good 120V chargers for Li.
Battery Management System does very little, it's only there for balancing and protect from over and undervoltage. Forget about it terminating at some adjustable setpoint 87-90%. You either watch it or put it on timer.
With (projected) 1,800WH daily draw his 200W solar and 100Ah battery won't work, anyway.
