AFAIK, a 24v solar array will require an MPPT controller, and those are $200-$300 to start. So I'm really at $300 for the Unisolar 12v, including controller.
Red, when I say direct attachment to 12v panels, I'm thinking of CLA chargers with wall-wart transformers to charge gadgets like cell phones, etc. Their voltage tolerance is pretty broad. In a pinch I like the idea of running directly from the array.
Gas smells and has a nasty tendency to catch fire, but it works at night and on cloudy days, FWIW.
I might buy one of these UPG batt's and see what I can do with it.
