Solar Trickle charge working?

We have a 1 year old 5th wheeler (Arctic Fox) with a solar trickle charge battery. The rig is not being used, everything turned off, we are in full time sunny location, but the battery keeps dying as we are again notified by the alarm!

How do you determine if the solar trickle charge is working?

We keep charging the battery via plugging into house, but after about a month, we get the alarm going off again because the battery is dead.

  • ^Well disconnecting the battery does nothin to sole whether it’s charging.
OP, easy test. When it “should be” charging from solar, a voltage reading on the battery should be above the resting state of the battery. At least 13.xx volts. If it’s 12.7 or below it is doing nothing at that moment.
  • I would speculate that if you are turning off the battery disconnect it may be disconnecting the solar. But that should have protected the battery.

Also, if not disconnecting the battery and just turning everything off does not. The CO detector / gas detectors which are safety devices and therefore don't have a disconnect, except removal of the fuse in the breaker/fuse box.

Charge the battery up and disconnect using the battery disconnect, if it has one. If not, disconnect the battery terminal. That should protect the battery until you get ready to use it.
