With batteries as with many other things, "better" is dependent on what importance each person places on various choices available. I have 2 wet GC's and charge mostly with 220 watts solar. For me, GC's are better because they cost 1/2 to 1/3 what AGM's cost, will accept all the output my panels will provide and give me the storage I need. Others charging with gen may consider faster charging worth the cost, or need to place in unvented area, or need to power high wattage inverters. You need to look at the various trade-offs and decide what's best for you. There is no "better".
