AGM question

Should my battery read 12.41v under load when it is basically fully charged?

Backstory: I saw that I'd accidentally bumped the switch on my inverter. Not knowing how long it had been on, I put a voltmeter on the 150ah battery, with a few amps load:12.41. I put a charger on but it shut off after 5 minutes.

This is a handy voltage chart for batteries...

The word AGM is about same informative as the word "battery", and voltage under load doesn't tell much either.

See your battery manual for open circuit voltage, and check Voc after at least 12 hours of resting. Meaning, no charging for 12 hours. The easiest way to do this is first thing in the morning. Voc should be measured in absence of loads.
  • Please remind us what charger and if it has an AGM setting.
    Otherwise seems normal.
  • Your voltage reading is worthless under load. Turn everything off, and read it after an hour.

If you picked up a telecom surplus 150 ah AGM battery, you should see about 12.88 V if it's a DEKA Telecom, after 48 hours of sitting after a full charge, to let the surface charge dissipate.

Voltage may vary by brand, also. For my DEKA surplus Telecom, I charge at 14.4V until the battery reaches 0.5% of rated amperage, about 0.75 amp charge rate for a 150 AH battery.

I wouldn't worry too much, over night, just charge it fully in sunshine all day long tomorrow with solar panels.
