Mex, thanks for the test, which confirms how the second example above with the 125amp charger worked out, and how it would have worked by hitting 220AH of Wets with 125a.
Now, to confirm my other point, please draw each (one 31 Wet , one 31 AGM) battery down to 50% again, and hit each one with a current limited 20a charger set to the same Vabs.
(20a chosen because we know 47a is too high a rate for that Wet 31 at 50% to allow any bulk time at all--it went straight to absorption.)
I would expect each to have an initial 20a constant bulk stage, for the initial voltage spike to be less in the AGM, and for the constant 20 amps to run longer before tapering with the AGM.
But for the first while, they should both be accepting 20a, gaining AH at the same rate, like your idea earlier of two different cars both at the same speed.
