Hmmm ... I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that some also measure storage battery instantaneous internal resistance using an easy straight-forward delta DC approach that any of us could use, as follows:
Instantaneous battery resistance = the difference (delta) in two charging voltage values applied to it's terminals divided by the difference (delta) in the resulting two current values. "Instantaneous" just means "make the delta measurements as quick as possible" so as to get the value of battery resistance at that particular point in it's State Of Charge.
The delta approach can be a powerful way to eliminate a lot of problems in measuring a parameter without having to control as many external conditions.
