Air Conditioner not working and I am desperate

There may be a reset process for the thermostat. There is one for our Dometic 5 button Comfort Control Thermostat. Check the manual. We have also unplugged the wire below the thermostat and waited a couple minutes and plugged it back in.

Is it a Ducted system, with a Wall-Mount Thermostat, or Non-Duct with controls on the A/C itself? Ducted has a Defrost Sensor that could be out of place and getting too cold too fast. If Wall Thermostat, does it require batteries and are they installed and good?

My guess? Low voltage might have caused the compressor to shut off. IT should have reset in a couple of minutes, and then will be OK ONCE you have higher voltage.

You might also have a bad capacitor, start relay, or wiring.

Same thing happened to me when I used an extension cord that was too long -- too much resistance, I guess.

Is 12V present on the thermostat?

Have you checked the breaker on the pedestal? Sometimes they will trip. and you won't know it because the lights still work. My Apex kept tripping the pedestal breaker, I finally had to start running it of the 50A plug. No real problems since.

We are assuming you are at a regular 120VAC pedestal somewhere and not trying to get your air conditioner to work with the 30AMP Shore Power Cable plugged into the 2KW Honda type generator 120VAC receptacle using an RV30A-15A long adapter.

If you are using a camp ground pedestal then you must make sure the camp ground RV 30AMP receptacle is functioning ok and you have the correct 'SAFE ZONE' of 120VAC to run your air conditioner.

We use one of these RV 120VAC plug-in VOLTMETERs inside the trailer close to where we turn ON our air conditioner. If the 120VAC AC is not showing in the GREEN SAFE ZONE on the VOLTMETER we will NOT to try to use the Air Conditioner...
