Bob, I am not a transmission repair guy. But, I know how to really put it through its paces. Ihave 2008 LTZ LMM Dually. I have abused my tranny with high horsepower & gross torque. But, the allison transmission was built to pull a house. Like everything else, parts wear out & things break. Pulling anything always puts a strain on your drivetrain & everything else. I had mine built by Suncoast in Florida, thats where I live. Albeit, at a more costly rebuild because of the HP & Torque my dually puts out. Rebuilding the tranny in your truck would be the best thing you can do to it. It will really run smoother & shift better.
Dont sell a vehicle because something is wrong with it. Fix it and enjoy a few more $$$ on what you like to do, RV.
Something to think about, in cold weather materials tend to contract. Could that be the cause of the leak? Just something to think about.
